GGE03, a steamed ginger extract, effectively relieves abdominal pain, constipation, indigestion, and reflux while enhancing overall health and well-being in functional dyspepsia.
Hyang-Im Baek and other researchers explored the potential of steamed ginger extract (GGE03) to safely ease mild-to-moderate functional dyspepsia (FD) symptoms in a rigorous 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, offering promising insights for digestive health.
In total, 80 eligible participants were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups:
Researchers monitored the participants closely, assessing both therapeutic effects and safety markers at the start of the study and after 12 weeks. As found, patients in the GGE03 group experienced remarkable improvement in their Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) scores as opposed to the placebo group. Improvements were noted across all subcategories, including abdominal pain, constipation, indigestion, and reflux (all p < 0.001).
In addition, those receiving GGE03 portrayed enhanced quality of life, as measured by the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Notable improvements were noted in:
Comprehensive safety assessments—including adverse events, blood tests, and urinalysis—illustrated no clinically significant changes between the GGE03 and placebo groups. Researchers concluded that GGE03 is safe and well-tolerated for regular use. These results positioned GGE03 as a compelling health-functional intervention with the potential to adequately support gastric health and overall digestive well-being.
