Poster abstract

SP6 acupressure demonstrates effectiveness in relieving pain experienced during dysmenorrhea among nursing students.

Background

This study sought to assess the occurrence of dysmenorrhea among nursing students and investigate the influence of acupressure on the experimental group's condition.

Method

Employing a quantitative research strategy and a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test design, a targeted sample of 60 nursing students encountering dysmenorrhea was deliberately chosen from various nursing associations in Delhi/NCR. To ascertain any association between post-scores of nursing students who underwent SP6 acupressure and demographic variables, the Fisher's exact test value was computed. The evaluation of SP6 acupressure's effectiveness was conducted using the WaLIDD Scale, and the analysis of data incorporated descriptive and inferential statistics.

Result

The post-test mean for nursing students in the experimental group (4.23) was significantly lower than the control group (7.5). The calculated mean difference was reported to be statistically significant at the 0.05 threshold.  The Fisher's exact test results indicated no association between post-test scores and demographic variables at a 0.05 level of significance.

Conclusion

The investigation asserts that the implementation of SP6 acupressure effectively reduced pain in nursing students experiencing dysmenorrhea.
